Berry Boy

I laughed…
(quietly and to myself) when I realized that for the longest time, you have been pronouncing “amen” as “all men”. I always thought it sounded a bit…off…and when I listened closer as you sang “For the Lord is good to me…” it became clear why.
when you told me, for the hundredth time this week, that you were feeling “squeezy” (meaning “queasy”, with an upset stomach). This was also exasperating. I’d like to put the puke pail away sometime this month, if you don’t mind.
when I told you that you couldn’t watch something because it might have swearing in it, and you asked me what swears were, so I told you that it was bad language, and you said “like Idiot?” no, worse, I said. “Stupid?” no, worse. “Dumb?” I LOVE that these were the worst words that you could come up with
Berry Baby
You amaze me…
with the sheer force of your will. You had been barely a week with your cast on and you were not only crawling but trying to walk around. It’s not a walking cast. Settle down.
I laughed out loud…
when you picked up your brother’s wooden shotgun, pointed it at your Dad, and made “shooting” noises while thrusting the gun in his direction. You are truly a “boy”
when I found you trying to climb up the buffet cabinet where your brother’s Lego is kept. Literally climbing, with your fingers digging into the top of the buffet and your legs dangling off the ground (cast and all) while you tried to get your “good” leg up to a higher point…note to yourself – there are no footholds on the side of the cabinet.
